α-index
The α-index (Abt 2012; Burrell 2012; Sangwal 2012) is a variant of the h-rate where the h-index is divided by number of decades since an author's first publication, or
$$\alpha = \frac{h}{Y_D},$$where
$$Y_D = \text{ceiling}\left( \frac{Y-Y_0+1}{10}\right).$$History
