Description
Fairness (Prathap 2014; Gagolewski et al. 2022) is a measure of the distribution of citations across all of an author's publications. A value of 1 would indicate that all publications have the same number of citations, while lower values indicate a skewed distribution with some publications having more citations than other. It is calculated as:
$$\eta = \frac{\left(C^P\right)^2}{P\sum\limits_{i=1}^{P} C_i^2}.$$It is not generally considered as an impact measure in-and-of itself, but serves as a complement to other metrics.
