hc

Properties

Description

hc (Kharana and Sharma 2022) is a modification of the h-index which includes an additional weighting factor for the most cited publication of the author's record. This extra factor is the maximum power one can raise h to which is less than the maximum citations, which is then added to h, thus:

$$h_c = h+k.$$

The original authors describe the calculation of k through an algorithm, but it can directly be determined as:

$$k = \left[\log_h\left(C_{\max}-1 \right)\right],$$

which is the logarithm in base h of one less than the largest number of citations to a single paper, truncated to an integer. If h ≤ 1, then hc = h.
